RP Business: PEW Research Center

Business Resource Proposal

The PEW Research Center released research on the millennial generation and the demographics of this group. The millennial generation’s increasing use of technology can be problematic in the future and lead to a decrease in communication in person and feelings of isolation and loneliness.

In order to explore the demographic of the millennial generation, which my paper will focus on, I researched how they are described and portrayed. I found a government resource that collected data in 2009 on the demographics of this generation.

This resource describes the millennials as the most ethnically and racially diverse generation. Additionally, this resource provided me a great summary of who makes up the millennial generation and the areas that differentiate them from other generations.

The survey that was conducted by PEW Research and it found that millennials are especially unique in how they have fused their personal and social lives with technology. For example, the survey found that 83% of millennials sleep with their cellphone right next to them, which supports my argument that this generation is always connected and plugged in.

This information was retrieved from a .org website, which leads me to believe that it is very reliable. Furthermore it is part of the PEW Research Center series, which consists of a series of reports exploring the behaviors, values and opinions of the teens and twenty-somethings that make up the Millennial Generation.
